Tras el fracaso de los dos primeros teñidos con Palo Campeche decidí hacer una tercera prueba y, aunque el tinte no es perfecto ya que hay algunas manchas (creo que por el mordentado de alumbre), el color es mucho más bonito y aproximado a como debe de ser, es decir, azul y no marrón.
After two failures with logwood I decided to make a third attempt and, although the dye is not perfect since it has some steins (due probably to a bad mordanting with alum), color is much more pretty and close to the blue shade logwood should give.
Proceso Process
Calentamos agua hasta que empiece a salir vapor. En una bolita metálica de infusión ponemos las virutas de palo campeche (en mi caso al 25% del peso de la fibra). Dejamos calentar por media hora y después añadimos la fibra previamente mojada durante una hora. Calentamos durante media hora más y dejamos reposar alrededor de una hora.
La vez anterior reposó una noche y tomó ese color marrón tan feo.
He de decir que al dejar reposar el color se volvió más azul, mientras que cuando introduje las fibras, el tono era mucho más violeta.
We heat the water until it starts to steam. In a infuser we put the logwood (25% w.o.f. in this case). We heat it during 30 minutes and then we add the skeins previously soaked during 1 hour. We heat 30 minutes more and then we let stand 1 hour.
Last time it stood overnight and took an ugly brown shade.
I must say that while resting color became more blueish, while at the beginning it was more violetish.

NOTA: las fibras han sido lavadas y mordentadas previamente con alumbre al 15% y
cremor tártaro al 8%. La madeja y la tela de algodón además tienen un premordentado
de tara al 15%, una sustancia tanínica.
NOTE: fibers have been previously washed and mordanted with alum 15% and tartar 8%. The cotton skein and fabric have also been mordanted first with 15% tara (Caesalpinia spinosa) a tanninic substance.

fibras de seda, tela de algodón y madejas de lana merina, alpaca y
algodón teñidas con palo campeche al 25%.
